Survey on America’s Support for Public Transportation

The survey America’s Support for Public Transportation was conducted for the American Public Transportation Association (APTA)  by the Mineta Transportation Institute (MTI). This survey  provides evidence that there is growing support for an already strong majority of people in favor of expanding public transportation.

Nearly 74 percent of respondents agreed to use of their tax dollars to create, expand and improve public transportation in their community.78 percent of respondents agreed that public transportation can be a solution and help pave the way to a stronger economy.Nearly 88 percent of respondents  agreed that the  public transportation expands access to job and career opportunities as well medical facilities and colleges. Another notable finding is that 72 percent of respondents agreed that public transit reduces the dependence on forgien oil and transitions and lifts America  toward a more energy efficient economy.
